Today, at work, I noticed a boy of about seven taking photos of some of the plants in one of my clients herbaceous borders. Turns out his family were renting out the accommodation this client rents out to holiday goers etc.
Anyway, I go up to him and ask him if he knows the name of the plant he is taking photos of and he responds with “Red Hot Poker”. I congratulate him and add that the Latin name is “Kniphofia”. I then tell him if he would like to know any more of the plants names then all he has to do is ask. To which he responds – “No, I have a computer”.
He then walks off.
