Darren Coleman bought me some pencils for my birthday – Blackwing 602’s – the best pencil in the world, so I wanted to do some drawings with them. Thought i’d play around with the idea of drawing mundane, everyday or ambiguous things to create some sort of narrative between the idea of drawing as a pastime vs ‘art’ vs improving technical ability. This object was initially made by me – an anthropomorphic object, satirizing the idea of making ‘precious’ artefacts. I’ve taken the idea further by doing fucking boring drawings of a somewhat ridiculous initial object. What’s next on the menu? Dunno, but i’ve always wanted to draw a roast chicken.
